Offshore and Coastal Buoys
Polyethylene buoys are a lightweight, durable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional steel buoys, offering better performance and lower life cycle costs even in demanding conditions.
A durable and cost-effective solution
Offshore and coastal buoys made of polyethylene are a modern and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional steel buoys. They are inexpensive to purchase and have significantly lower life cycle costs than steel buoys.
Why choose polyethylene buoys?
Easy to handle and install: Thanks to their lightweight structure, polyethylene buoys are easier to install and anchor. Their streamlined design and light weight result in reduced wave and ice-induced stress on the buoy body and anchoring compared to steel buoys.
Less wear and maintenance: User experience has shown that plastic buoys are also more stable than steel buoys and cause significantly less chain wear, providing considerable savings in maintenance.
Excellent visibility: High-performance radar and light reflectors, along with bright surface colors, ensure outstanding visibility of the buoys in all conditions.
Buoys can be equipped with any available solar or battery-powered light. Additional devices and sensors can be installed inside the buoy body.
Offshore buoy VPU800
Offshore Buoy VPU800 has been designed to replace conventional steel buoys. With its diameter of 800 mm and focal plane of up to 4.0 m, it is a durable heavy-duty solution that meets the needs of the most challenging conditions.
Product specifications
- Total length 10.9 m
- Draft from surface 6.5 m
- Focal plane from surface 4.0 m
- Diametern 800 mm
- Net weight (including weight plates 270 kg) 1310 kg
- Lifting sleeve
- Recommended mooring sinker weight 5–7 t
- Recommended chain mooring
Coastal buoy VPU500-10
Offshore Buoy VPU500 is remarkably more cost-effective than conventional steel buoys. Its structure featuring a diameter of 500 mm and a focal plane of up to 3.5 m has been designed for conditions where VPU800 would be excessively robust. Our coastal buoys are also available in shorter VPU500/800 versions for more shallow waters.
Product specifications
- Total length 10.4 m
- Draft from surface 6.4 m
- Focal plane from surface 4.0 m
- Diametern 500 mm
- Net weight (including weight plates 200 kg) 730 kg
- Lifting sleeve
- Recommended mooring sinker weight 6.0–8.0 t
- Recommended chain mooring
Remote control and monitoring features to support safety and environmental friendliness
Optional remote control and monitoring features enable 24/7 monitoring of navigational aid status directly in the SeaDatics system. The provision of real-time data on navigational aid status improves fairway safety and the predictability of fairway infrastructure maintenance, reducing the carbon footprint. The environmental load is decreased as the predictability of servicing operations reduces the mileage of fairway maintenance.
100 % of the buoy material can be recycled. As any detached buoys can be located thanks to remote monitoring technology, they do not end up as coastal plastic waste.
