Remote-monitored navigational aids

Waterway owners’ navigational aids can be equipped with a remote monitoring and control feature. Remote monitoring enables real-time tracking of location, conditions, and light functionality data, which the waterway owner can monitor via an application. For example, if the navigational aid moves more than a preset limit, the application will immediately trigger an alarm. Other monitored features of the navigational aid will also trigger a fault message when the set alarm limits are exceeded.

Remote management enhances safety

Safety equipment can include a remote-control feature that enables the light intensity to be adjusted remotely, for instance, by VTS (Vessel Traffic Services) upon a vessel’s request. This feature enhances safety, especially in low-visibility conditions, as the light intensity can be adjusted according to the situation.

Remote monitoring reduces environmental impact

Remote monitoring of navigational aids reduces the need for on-site inspections, resulting in cost savings. Additionally, maintenance actions can be planned proactively, which increases maintenance efficiency and ensures equipment reliability. Predictable maintenance actions and fewer vessel miles also reduce environmental impact.
