Two new vessels for Arctia’s fairway maintenance fleet
Arctia is developing its fairway maintenance fleet to be more agile, environmentally friendly and competitive. At the end of February, the company signed a procurement contract for two new fairway maintenance vessels. The vessels will be delivered by Finnish company Alucat Catamarans Oy and will be manufactured in Ylöjärvi. The Alucat W35 and Alucat W16 class vessels will be delivered by August-September 2025 at the latest.
Agility and efficiency for maintenance work
The Alucat W16 boat is trailer-transportable, allowing for flexible use across a wide operational area. It will be equipped with a lightweight crane that enables cargo loading directly from the boat and facilitates maritime infrastructure maintenance work up to five meters above the water surface. Thanks to its catamaran design, the vessel is highly stable, making crane operations possible even on a small boat. The vessel has a speed of approximately 30 knots and, due to its lightweight construction, is highly fuel-efficient.
The Alucat W35 is significantly larger and, with its greater cargo capacity and lifting capability, is well-suited for various maritime infrastructure installation, maintenance, and service tasks. The vessel has a speed of 25–30 knots.
With these vessels, we are developing our operations to be more environmentally friendly and offering our customers a new, faster and more agile vessel class that improves the scalability of our fleet to meet diverse customer needs.
