Arctia's Multipurpose Icebreaker Fennica heads for Canada

Fennica will depart from Kuusinen Harbor in Kotka on September 5th, heading to Milne Inlet in Canada. The chartering is part of contract between Arctia Icebreaking Ltd and the Canadian company Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation.

The chartering will not affect the icebreaking capacity in the Baltic Sea, as the operations will be completed prior to Finnish icebreaking season.

"Last year's chartering went very well, and the customer was extremely satisfied with our service. It's great that we can once again bring world-class icebreaking expertise to Canada. The contract brings work to a multipurpose icebreaker and her crew during our off-season and may also lead to more international projects for our fleet in the future," says Paavo Kojonen, Director of Icebreaking Operations.
