Arctia – the most capable partner in the Baltic Sea
In Finland, there is a cooperative model of Finnish preparedness called comprehensive security. According to the model, the vital functions of society are taken care of in cooperation by authorities, businesses, organizations and citizens. Recently, there have been unexpected events in the Baltic Sea, highlighting the relevance of the comprehensive security model. In the Baltic Sea, companies' ability to promote comprehensive security and maintain security of supply are especially important. In addition to the fact that 96 % of Finland's foreign trade is transported by sea, a significant amount of energy and data passes through the cables and pipes at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
Arctia is government´s special assignment company whose defined assignment is to ensure winter shipping that serves the transport needs of business and secures Finland's security of supply, focusing on cost-effective and low-risk ice breaking in the northern Baltic Sea, enabling military mobility and providing marine surveying, fairway maintenance and planning services related to the preparedness and readiness of the navy in all conditions. In addition, we manufacture spars and buoys, which can be used to guide traffic on fairways and utilized with the digital remote monitoring and real-time data collection solutions we have developed. Our ocean surveying professionals can produce information from below the water surface, which can be used to determine, for example, the subsurface topography, underwater objects and structures, their condition, shape and materials by presenting them in a three-dimensional model. Arctia has equipment ranging from boats to heavy fairway maintenance vessels and multi-purpose icebreakers, and we can carry out operations in all conditions with appropriate equipment. Arctia has the ability to maintain the entire value chain of marine infrastructure.
Thanks to our skilled and dedicated personnel and our equipment suitable for even challenging conditions, we have been able to state that our ability to promote comprehensive security and maintain security of supply reliability is at a good level.
