Arctia deliveres digital buoys and remote monitoring service to the Swedish Maritime Administration
Thu Aug 01 15:08:00 2024
Arctia will deliver unlit digital spar buoys and a remote monitoring service to the Swedish Maritime Administration. These digital buoys and the remote monitoring service enhance maritime safety while also reducing the carbon footprint. The buoys will be installed in Västervik and nearby areas around the east coast in the fall of 2024 as part of a two-year pilot project.
The customer’s decision to invest in Arctia's innovative digital buoys and remote monitoring service demonstrates their commitment to environmentally friendly and safety-enhancing solutions.
Achieving environmental goals as a key procurement criterion
For most of our customers, achieving environmental goals is a crucial criterion for procuring digital buoys. With the remote monitoring feature integrated into the buoys, the location and position data of these aids to navigation can be monitored 24/7 through Arctia's SeaDatics monitoring system. Maintenance personnel, for example, are immediately informed of buoys that are dislocated or have broken loose from their positions, allowing for prompt maintenance actions. Remote monitoring technology enhances maritime safety, improves the efficiency of waterway infrastructure maintenance, and reduces environmental impact by targeting maintenance efforts directly at faulty buoys rather than conducting annual overall inspections.
Precise location accuracy and real-time monitoring
Arctia's Taival location tracker device, integrated into the digital buoy, has been practically tested and proven to be a durable solution even in harsh winter conditions. Taival-tracker is self-contained thanks to a small solar panel. Together with the SeaDatics software's post-processing, the Taival-tracker ensures precise location accuracy for AtoN´s at all times, with alert thresholds adjustable to customer preferences.
Arctia's buoys are 100 % recyclable
Arctia is the world's largest manufacturer of plastic buoys designed for year-round use. In addition to domestic waterways, our products have been exported to over 20 countries, particularly to areas requiring ice resistance. Arctia's buoys are 100 % recyclable. Lost buoys can be tracked thanks to remote monitoring technology, preventing them from becoming plastic waste on shores.
Services tailored to customer needs
Our services are always customized according to customer needs. Our digital spar buoy concept includes a high-quality buoy suitable for the marine environment, seamless integration of the Taival tracking device into the buoy, and access including training on the SeaDatics software.
